What's Happened . . .

Well I'm back, and back with a BANG !

In my last blog I wrote about only brewing 19ltr batches, well looking back I totally forgot about that plan and got to brewing early in the year and full batches.

Also for 2023 Brewery Logo has Changed to a cartoon green wolf that looks like a cross between the Hulk and a Werewolf. So, let us get brewing.

Jan 13th ... and I brewed Pale Squeak 2.0 which was The White Rat clone version 2 I tried to get more aroma and flavour from Version 1. I think it was ok but maybe I threw the balance out, So may have to revisit over the year.

Jan 22nd ... managed to brew the APA Festival Kit, with it being an extract kit it was all done within the Hour. All bottled and not tried yet. Think it’s been conditioning for 40 days as I write so maybe this weekend I'll get to try.

Feb 8th ... was Arthur's Legacy brew day, tried to brew a good dry Irish Stout for St Patricks Day.

Which came out great but seemed to have overcarbed it in the Keg. I know stouts and dark beers kind of carbonate themselves, but I did the 30psi for 3mins trick rocking and rolling the keg. Still drinkable though.

Feb 9th ... I brewed the Crossmyloof "Hoppity House 13" All Grain Kit. Really shocked to see you couldn’t but Hop House 13 anymore here in England, Now whether it’s anything to do with Brexit or not, I loved that beer. It was a lager that had a taste. Anyway seeing this kit available to too much of a temptation to ignore. Brewed it up and its come out fantastic. 5.1% and very tasty. I have the recipe so it will be a regular brew hopefully.

Feb 27th ... was a brew day of The Murgy Straight from Four Priests Brewery in Middlewich. Me and the better half had a week off and somehow managed to get over to the Kings Lock and try it on cask, A great tasting and flavourful ale. Aroma was outstanding. I was sat there enjoying it when Andy the Head brewer walked in. Had a good chat as listened to everything he said and took it in for my brew day. I decided to brew it BIAB Style only to save on clean up. However because it was Oh I got a spare day lets brew kind of day. Water was on Grain mashed in, went to find hops and could not find the Talus Hops. I bought a 450g pack god knows where it’s gone so had to sub it out for Azacca. As I write Its been Cold Crashed and Waiting for the next empty Keg. Looking forward to this a lot.

Mar 13th ... Wanted to brew a Hazy/Juicy/NEIPA so brewed up "Inept Earthman" (anagram of Trentham NEIPA) Using Hana Heritage Malt, Oats, Torrefied Wheat, Dextrose and Maltodextrin.

Using a combination of Hallertau Magnum, Citra, Azacca and Strata Hops. I’m hoping it comes out great as I fermented under pressure of 12PSI Its looking promising Final Gravity is stable at bang on 1.010 so it’s looking Like a NEIPA at 6.6% Colour is fantastic too.

Mar 19th ... Brewed for a challenge issued on brew tube to video a brew day. So brewed up a English Pale Mild using Warminster Floor Malted Mild Ale Malt, Golden Promise, Carapils and some Black malt which I only put in on Mash out so I only extract the colour and not the flavours. Hopped with Brambling Cross at 60, 40, 20, 10, 0 and a dry hop due on the 28th. So that’s 3 beers all looking for a keg so going to have to get some beers down me or bottled up. Luckily I got a week off from work so, Just might have a go....

Got a couple of Recipes for next brew days I would like to brew the Brave Noise Recipe as I really admire the message behind the beer and please go look it up. Then there’s a brew that’s been sent to me by Finnroo off YouTube the Tired B*stard using Moutere Hops but might have to wait to do them both as only have 1 Fermenter free and no Kegs ( 9 all containing ales ). Either way going to have to spend some time in the shed lol.

Mar 24th ... 10 Days Off, Catch you soonish xx
